Philipp Nedomlel’s passion for exceptional landscaping has complemented a wide range of the studio’s projects. Most notably, this has included 1000 Trees, a new mixed-use development in Shanghai that takes for the form of two tree-covered mountains. Philipp led the landscape design of the project from concept to detailed design and currently co-ordinates with the client and consultants during the construction phase to ensure that the quality of the project’s landscape elements that will include 25,000 individual plants and 100 different species of plants and trees on completion. Philipp has also recently worked on the landscape design for a new office building in Madrid, a retail destination in the UK and a public space in Milwaukee, USA. Internally at the studio, Philipp leads the studio’s efforts to provide specialist training and support for all studio members on landscape related topics. Since 2018, he also forms a part of the studio’s digital design team that develops, explores and tests data-driven environmental design tools to measure and analyse the environmental impact of the studio’s projects. Prior to joining the studio, Philipp was based in Beijing and Shanghai where he worked for AECOM Shanghai, Atelier Dreisetl (now Ramboll), and Tsinghua University. At AECOM Shanghai, Philipp led the landscape design of JW Marriot Marquis in Shanghai, China from concept through to detail design, Education and Qualification MA, Landscape Design, Vienna Institute for Design, University of Applied Arts Study at the Institute of Landscape Planning, University of Natural Resources and Applied life Sciences, Vienna.
