Architecture for Fashion

Brief

Architecture is a privileged tool of those brands that are characterized by a high positioning and that - in addition to the quality of their products - need to nurture an imagery made of prestige, style and refinement. From showrooms to stores, fashion needs architects as much as stylists, photographers and modelers.

For these reasons, the course in Architecture for Fashion was created, with the aim of training designers capable of interpreting the identity of a brand to transform it into architectural space, transferring those meanings of exclusivity, luxury and elegance from the garment to the environment deputed to exhibit it.

By delving into the needs of the fashion world, designers will acquire spendable skills in the entire luxury sector, gaining familiarity with a market segment characterized by timeless appeal and continuous and rewarding employment opportunities.

Through the course, participants will delve into the technical and compositional issues of design in the service of fashion, according to a course composed of 82 hours of frontal teaching, 32 hours of workshop and numerous contributions by renowned professionals. At the end of the course, students will also be guaranteed a training internship within some of the most prestigious architectural firms on the international scene.

Pop-up Store Missoni

Design workshop

Giuseppe Zampieri / David Chipperfield Architects Milano

The workshop is conducted in partnership with Missoni, and will cover the design of a pop-up store for the historic Milan-based brand. A sophisticated brand and among the best known of Made in Italy, Missoni is a highly-recognizable Italian brand that projects a tradition of ancient materials and techniques into the future. The workshop will also offer an opportunity to reflect on the contemporary value of the retail store, in a logic of temporality, as well as environmental and social sustainability, now axioms of society and the contemporary fashion system. During a time marked by profound transformations of the retail space, the workshop will lead to reflect on the potential of the physical space to represent the moment of the deepest and most authentic experience of a brand, of its values and its responsibility. Through an active and in-depth dialogue with Missoni's creative direction, designers will thus be able to carry out a unique and complete experience in the composition and design of a retail space for one of the most well-known and worldwide-appreciated brands.

Construction workshop

Construction is a fundamental step in architecture. For this reason, YACademy offers its students the opportunity to participate in the process of producing their own ideas. Thus, the students will gain practical experience on construction sites and, above all, the authorship of projects built for excellent commissions, destined for a major media echo and capable of defining a turning point in their professional career.

Placement

At the end of teaching modules and workshop, YACademy’s Placement office will guarantee every student an internship or collaboration proposal in one of our partner studios.
